Monthly event aids organizations across the country

BELLINGHAM, WA, March 22, 2005 - Across the country, neighborhoods need cleaned up, libraries need volunteer help, sports fields and parks need spruced up and animal rescue shelters need homes for pets.

These are just a few on the long list of needs in every community. Together We Can Change the World, Inc. helps communities tackle these projects. The Washington-based company is mobilizing businesses and individuals who want to make a difference with the first-ever Together We Can Change World Day Saturday, Oct. 1.

Through its website, www.togetherwecanchangetheworldday.com, the company helps organizations publicize their projects and gives individuals an easy way to join projects in their area at no cost. The web site also offers the opportunity to join the BE The Difference Club which results in many free benefits including E-Books listing countless ideas on how to make a difference.

"We have found that people want to make a difference, and we want to help them do just that," said CEO/Founder Ginny Dye. "Every single one of us has the power to make a difference. Our books have something for everyone."

More than 60 organizations across the country have already registered projects. From Hawaii to Vermont, people will be making a difference Oct. 1.

  • A Michigan youth and family camp is doing a camp clean up in preparation for its fall camping event.
  • A New York group is holding a Teacher Appreciation Day.
  • A California horse therapy program is hosting a volunteer recruitment and training day.
  • Habitat for Humanity organizations in Colorado, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and West Virginia are building new houses for families that could not otherwise buy one.

Numerous projects will aid victims of Hurricane Katrina.

  • A New York church is selling donated items for hurricane relief.
  • A Maryland group needs volunteers to help repair donated computers for hurricane victims.
  • A Virginia group is preparing items already donated for shipment.
  • Habitat for Humanity in Louisiana will be fixing up houses hit by the hurricane.

"Having Together We Can Change the World Day on a monthly basis allows us to provide ongoing support to the organizations that are making a difference in people's lives," Dye said.

It also gives more people a chance to get involved.

"No one is too young or too old, too rich or too poor. Whether you are healthy or homebound, there are ways to make a profound impact," Dye said.
